Q. I’ve been thinking about dreading my hair for a while now, but for some reason I’m not sure where the rest of my hairline has gone to… do you think it’s a good idea to lock up?

A. Well, we hate to tell you this… but if you have male-pattern baldness in your family and can see it coming on even now, we wouldn’t recommend locking up because dreading your hair can cause a lot of extra stress on those already-weak hair follicles.

And your locks only get heavier as your dreads come together over time… If you want the hair you have on your head now to stay as long as possible, we wouldn’t recommend dreads – sorry!

  1. Hi. uhm i have very thin hair and i was thinking of dreadlocking them but im afraid of how they may turn out to be.. should i proceed with dreadlocking my hair?

  3. (Sorry for my English, I only can speak Hungarian and German).
I had dreadlocks for 3 years and I loved them, but they were so heavy, so I often had headaches. And I had to finish the university and find a job, so I decided to cut them off. That was 1 year ago and I hate my non-dread-hair… 😛 I want to get my locks back.
-if I have thinner locks, is it easier to cut their ends (to make them less heavy) without making the ends come undone?
    – My father is 53, and has less hair then before, but I am a girl. How should I care of my dreadlocks, not terroriseing my skin on my head?
